“YOU HAVE BEEN REDEEMED AT A HIGH PRICE" (cfr 1Cor 6,20)
Dear
friends of Gethsemane, the Lord gives you his Peace!
In these days the eyes of all are directed here, in the Middle East, on this fragile truce, for which we ask you to extend your prayer of intercession towards Him who can everything.
There is much talk about the 'exchange' of prisoners, each one seems to narrate his own victory, when in fact we know that all of us are losing in front of the desire of the true God, who does not want death and suffering! It seems to me that we are all somehow 'hostages' of the world mentality that insistently proposes itself to us as an alternative, without God. The images of war are in fact instrumentalized by all sides, so that, as in every conflict, the first victim is the truth. We are not talking about human truth, yet always necessary to be able to weave relations of justice, but the supernatural Truth, which has manifested us the true image that each one of us carries in his face! Not only one’s own personal history and earthly belonging, but the image and similarity that God has indelibly imprinted when he thought of us and created. If we listen well in the depths of our conscience, this light and truth shines out, a reality much stronger than any affiliation, "language, people and nation" (Rev 5:9). This concept would remain abstract and relegable to the caste of a few illusive gnostics, if the Most High had not manifested itself to us in the mystery of the Incarnation of the Son: Jesus Christ. This is the faith that takes every human being by the hand and differentiates us from all other religions. We see our God in the Person of Jesus Christ. He is the slain Lamb who accomplishes the great redemption and saves us (cf. Rev 5:12).
In the powerful prophecy of Isaiah, God says: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you belong to me. (...) For you are precious in my eyes, because you are worthy of esteem and I love you" (Is 43:1,4). Saint Paul, in a look fully illuminated by the Passover of the Son of God declares: "you have been redeemed at a high price" (1Cor 6:20). This divine redemption penetrates into our humanity and, in wonder, should lead us to the surrender of every idea of conquest and claim. The Mystery of Salvation surpasses us! (by God’s grace!).
We are all precious to him! We ask to grow in this awareness that comes from faith in this God who, HERE has sweat Blood for us (cf. Lk 22,44), so that we can rejoice, praise Him in every breath or sigh, so that we can weep and hope, to meet the Love that loved us with eternal love!
Cardinal Robert Sarah, at the presentation of his latest book, said: "The world is dying because it lacks worshippers! The Church is dried up by the lack of worshippers" (God exists? The cry of man who asks for salvation, Cantagalli). In our adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, or wherever we are, let us continue to pray and worship the Lord. We need worshippers! Let us try to dialogue with that beloved Face of the Son and let us say his desire for each one of us! What would he say?
May Mary Most Holy intercede for us, who are in need of the Bridegroom and thirsty for eternal Wine! (cf. Jn 2:3).
Good prayer,
In the Lord be blessed
