We reach you
with these words to respond to the many messages of solidarity and request for
information on what is happening. We ask you to pray, knowing that it is the only
most powerful action we can do now. We can ask God this: to have
a deep look at reality, perceiving with him the invisible, that is more real than the visible!
This does not mean living disembodied... indeed!
"Our
battle is not against creatures made of blood and flesh - Saint Paul tells
us - but against the Principalities, the Powers, against the Dominators of
this world of darkness, against the evil spirits" (Eph 6:12-13).
It is normal
that each of us, through images and media news, feels a part of people’s
suffering and what is happening in this land, already tormented. This is
horrible and irrational. We find a light in the Word of God: "If a
member suffers, all the members suffer together, if a member is honored, all
the members rejoice with him" (1 Cor 12:26). How true these words are!
But if, on the one
hand, we suffer with those who suffer, in the same way, with the offer of small
and concrete faithfulness of love, we can be consolation, a 'caress' that gives
relief to those who cry in pain.
All this we
think can be considered living a profound communion and "making of our
life a sacrifice to the living God" (cf. Rom 12:1). The secret of this simple invitation is precisely
this: we can all help those who are in trial with our concrete prayer, and God, who knows and sees, mysteriously
administers the good that is really consolation for the "suffering
members of this wounded humanity".
Rather than
taking sides on one side or the other, let us try to perceive how deeply God
suffers in seeing his children, made in his image, who attack each other, kill
each other, hate each other, using the talents He gave them to hurt each other, children made
in his image but no longer in his likeness.
From this holy
place where the Son of God fought to save 'by his blood men of every tribe,
tongue, people and nation' (Rev 5:9), we invite you to kneel with us on
this Rock, beside our Lord Jesus Christ, He alone has the power to stop and
dominate the evil that wants to destroy all humanity. We christians, members of Christ, have a
great responsibility to intercede with God, together with Mary Most Holy, Queen of Peace, for the
salvation of the whole world.
We are the sons of St. Francis, and we are THE custodians, according to the will of God, of one of the places that Jesus loved the most: the garden called GETHSEMANE. This is a unique place in the world. It is the place where the Lord manifested his Yes forever by being ready to enter where nobody else had ever entered, where he plunged into darkness, in the final battle against death, in which humanity has always ended up being a loser.
