IMMERSED IN THE ONE WHO HAS IMMERSED HIMSELF IN US

The Lenten season we are living is characterized by an orientation towards conversion and prayer. We all strive to improve our relationships with God, our neighbour and ourselves. If, on the one hand, our gaze is turned to our commitment and active participation in the Mystery of love manifested by God in the gift of the Son, on the other, we are called to contemplate how God, in his infinite wisdom, came to meet us by immersing himself in our humanity, marked by the mortal wound of original sin. The Saviour came to heal humanity precisely in those attitudes in which it proved rebellious and disobedient from the beginning, through the seduction of the evil one, we were visited, redeemed in our humanity, loved immensely! And this happened not through a formula, not through a theory, but in a concrete way with his example! A father in the light of the Gospel says: 'Do you want to be the center? Step aside! Do you want to own life, lose it! Do you want to go up? Go down! Do you want to be the first? Try to be the last!' What a great mystery! All this clashes strongly in comparison to the proposals that the evil one makes us with the mentality of the world! The Word of God, Jesus Christ, has the power to travel the times, to enter the spaces and hearts created by Him and to ask even today to be able to dwell within our humanity as that perfumed balm full of light that brings our souls to eternal salvation.
This historical period that we are all experiencing is complex: we see divisions, violence; the fundamental values of Christianity are attacked (the family, the truth, the religious life), there are limited and not very comprehensive answers, incomplete, confused, relativism reigns, the individual is at the center, almost in the place of God. All this invites us to seek answers that give meaning to what we are living, Jesus Christ is the only answer: He is our way, the only truth and our life (Jn 14:6), the supreme gift he has made of himself is the most eloquent evidence of the Word of the Father! The lenten journey gives us this great opportunity for conversion, let us allow Christ, the Victor, the Lamb sacrificed (cf Rev 5:6) to visit our humanity and every heart again.
“…now you too are in sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one can take away your joy. On that day you will ask me nothing more" (Jn 16,22-23). This is the joy and the promise that awaits us, what a breath of eternity! It is a certain Word, spoken by the Eternal Word of the Father, this joy will be the glorious face and full of the Light of the Risen One that will meet us, no one outside of Him can give us true joy and eternal salvation.
