From the Garden of the Lord, peace to you! In these days the liturgy of the Word is telling us the history of Salvation and the encounter that the people of Israel had with God who manifested himself with power, freeing him from slavery. It is superfluous to remind us that the Pharaohs change names but not vices and in the same way slavery has different circumstances and faces, but the fruits are always the same: a face obliged to look to the earth instead of looking to Heaven, goal of every soul! God manifests himself on Sinai, through clouds, lightnings, thunders and a very loud trumpet. The mountain was all trembling, even more the people, and the smoke rose like a fiery furnace, is the famous "theophany"! (Ex 19,16-19). The scene seems apocalyptic, but inside this theophanic situation the text states with a certain serenity: "Moses spoke and God answered him with a voice of thunder" (Ex 19:19). A reflection arises spontaneously, is the powerful and grandiose God of Sinai the same God that Jesus HERE in Gethsemane supplicates and prays? There is an obvious disproportion: in the First Covenant He is manifested in the strength and upheaval of nature to such an extent that creation seems to "bend" to the divine manifestation while in Gethsemane everything is silent, hidden and weak yet we have come to the redemptive act, the new and eternal Covenant, HERE the true liberation from that which enslaves us forever takes place. The immolated Lamb extinguishes those flaming darts that plagued humanity deathly, and takes upon himself the sin of the world! Only God can accomplish this, only the Son of God!We can say that our redemption passes through the tiny 'eye of a needle': it is the "Yes" of the Man-God who returns God to man! It is the Good Shepherd, who comes to take the lost humanity. It is an immense and hidden "Yes" that redeems the world! It is the Yes of God that recalls the "Yes" of the Blessed Virgin Mary, of Saint Joseph the just and we imagine an infinite starry sky, of which every star represents the "yes" pronounced and lived by the host of Saints and every man of good will. A simple "yes" that allows the Father to act and bring love and salvation, our consent. This is the power of a "yes", "let not my will be done, but your will" (Lk 22:42). Let us share with joy and hope in the Father’s plan of love; he is always the Lord Jesus the example. We too can be lambs in the Immolated Lamb, in his image and likeness, do not give up in imploring mercy and Peace for this restless world. Let us remain in prayer beside the Lord with so much perseverance, it is He who asks us, today more than ever.Be blessed From Gethsemane
Hora Sancta
We are the sons of St. Francis, and we are THE custodians, according to the will of God, of one of the places that Jesus loved the most: the garden called GETHSEMANE. This is a unique place in the world. It is the place where the Lord manifested his Yes forever by being ready to enter where nobody else had ever entered, where he plunged into darkness, in the final battle against death, in which humanity has always ended up being a loser.
