It is in the garden that the Creator opens a wound from the side of man to give him the joy of the relationship: the
woman. It was in the same garden that man and woman, deceived by the divisor, opened a mortal wound for all
humanity, through disobedience to the Word of God, man betrays his Lord, not respecting what He had asked
him. It is in this garden of Gethsemane that the wounded man is sought by God: "Who do you seek? Jesus, the
Nazarene. "It is me!" It is the same painful and passionate question of those who love their creature and seek
it: "Where are you?" (Gen 3:9). It is God himself, in the Only Son, who comes to meet us as the Doctor of souls
to offer himself in a mystical exchange: "He asked them again: 'Who do you seek?'... 'Jesus, the Nazarene'. 'So
if you seek me, let them go. That the word which he said might be fulfilled: I have lost none of those whom you
have given me" (Jn 18, 4-9). It is still in this garden of obedience where humanity, wounded, 'bitten' again by the
ancient poison, is deluded that it can be realized the manifestation of the Messiah in a human way, delivering the
meek Lamb to those who are full of envy and lies. The sign will be a kiss, the Lord lets himself be tied... and will
be 'bound' forever to our humanity with the gift of life (Mt 26,47-50; Jn 18,12).
It will always be in a garden that, from the wound of the side of Christ, the new creation of the children of God
will be born, the Scriptures are fulfilled: the slain Lamb came to save us, "for his wounds we have been
healed!" (Is 53:5). The Risen One will invite us to 'touch' this wound in order to truly believe in Him (Jn 20:26-27),
to understand that his oceanic love is real, an infinite love that repeats to us forever: "I am with you until the end
of time" (Mt 28:20).
Garden, wound, betrayal, the weakness of the Apostles, the delusion of wounded humanity...Wherever we may
be, let us be reached and let us be looked at and called by name, let us be 'touched' by the Light of God’s infinite
love: Jesus Christ our Lord! 'Wounded by wounded Love', let us invoke this grace for all humanity in need of
God, of the Prince of peace, let us pray especially for those who are still in suffering and in the darkness of trial.
Happy Easter
Hora Sancta
We are the sons of St. Francis, and we are THE custodians, according to the will of God, of one of the places that Jesus loved the most: the garden called GETHSEMANE. This is a unique place in the world. It is the place where the Lord manifested his Yes forever by being ready to enter where nobody else had ever entered, where he plunged into darkness, in the final battle against death, in which humanity has always ended up being a loser.
